Happiness is defined as a state of well-being that is marked by pleasure, joy and satisfaction. Most people want to know how to be happy. Fortunately, being happy is not as difficult as many may think.

Below are some facts about how to be happy:

1. Money actually can buy happiness
It has been said that money cannot buy happiness. That statement is somewhat paradoxical. Even though true happiness does not come from material objects, people who cannot afford to have their basic needs met are not as happy as those who can.

2. Happy people earn more than unhappy people

3. Genes and upbringing account for 50 percent of your happiness
Half of your happiness can be attributed to your genes and upbringing. Forty percent of your happiness is determined by your outlook on life. This includes things such as your relationships with other people, your work and your involvement in the community. Only 10 percent of your happiness comes from your external circumstances.

4. The happier you are, the healthier you are
Generally speaking, happy people are also healthier. The body generates up to 50 percent more antibodies when a person is happy. Antibodies are proteins that destroy harmful substances. People who give flowers for happiness on a regular basis may potentially be protecting someone else from illnesses.

5. Exercise can help you be happier
A person can spend hours trying to find happy gifts for people. However, exercise is one of the best things that people can do to make themselves happy. Studies have shown that people who exercise for at least twenty minutes a day, three times a week are happier. Exercise helps stimulate the release of endorphins, which are the feel good hormones.

6. Married people are happier than single people
Married people are usually happier than single people. Being married means that one has constant companionship, and companionship often brings happiness. However, people who are in a bad marriage are more likely to be unhappy than single people.

Again, a person can spend a lot of time giving flowers for happiness or trying to find happy gifts for people. Genes, lifestyle, marital status, exercise habits are just a few of the many things that influences a person’s level of happiness.
